This Brand New Tofino Spot Has A Hidden Arcade Behind A Bookcase

And a psychic's den too!
Contributor

You all thought the '70s died with Elvis but it turns out they're alive and well — the entire decade simply moved to this groovy retro B.C. hotel. From the swanky colours right out of an Austin Powers film to the mini-disco that'll have you buggin' out, the entire experience is like a trip through time. That's not even to mention the awesome Scooby-doo-esque arcade that's hidden behind a bookcase.

When you hit up Tofino on the coast of B.C.'s beautiful Vancouver Island, there's no more unique place to stay than Hotel Zed.

"It's got some features that I don't think anyone will ever see in another hotel," said CEO Mandy Farmer in an interview with Narcity.

Located in a bird sanctuary on the inlet side of Tofino, the stay features everything from a bike path that runs through the lobby to a psychic's den with drop-in tarot card readers.

Arguably the best find here is the secret retro arcade that you'll need to solve a puzzle to access.

"I'm not going to tell you that the secret way to get in, cause you're just going to have to figure it out," said Farmer.

"It's just this great 1980s arcade, with all of the best from the '80s," she continued.

Being a nerd has never been more cool and accessible, with each room offering a collection of comic books for visitors to discover.

And if you somehow get bored of all the things to do inside, the building is located just a seven-minute walk away from the gorgeous Chesterman Beach.

"We're still so close to the surf, but yet you get the absolute tranquility on the inlet," said Farmer.

On top of all this, Farmer said that 1% of all their profits will go towards supporting local Indigenous communities and protecting nearby forests from being clear-cut.

With tons of amenities right by the beach, it's hard to find a stay that's better than this.
