You Can Splash The Day Away At This Hidden Orlando Oasis For Just $2

Fun in the sun!
Contributor

Some of your favorite swimming holes around the O-town area may already be swamped with people trying to escape the scorching Florida sun, but don’t resign yourself to the heat just yet. Just a short drive from the heart of The City Beautiful, you’ll find a local gem where you can swim, paddle, and soak to your heart’s content. If you’re on the hunt for a new favorite watering hole, then check out Wekiva Island, a hidden Orlando oasis with just a $2 admission fee.

Not to be confused with its more populated neighbor Wekiva Springs, Wekiva Island boasts an exciting itinerary.

Only asking for a $2 admission fee, you can sip refreshing drinks at The Tooting Otter Craft Beer or Wine Bar & General Store, and grab some eats at the Without a Paddle Café.

After you stroll the winding boardwalk taking in the sights and sounds of Florida "island life", you can cozy up at the firepit as dusk sets in.

If you'd rather not spend your visit sitting dockside, launch your own boat from the riverside marina to explore the area by water. You can even do so by renting or bringing your own kayak, canoe, or paddleboard.

Launching your own vessel is a $10 fee, while all other rental prices depend on the time of day.

If you’re going with a group or hosting a small event, you can even rent one of their cabanas for a day.

Wekiva Island is also special in that they take great care to reduce their carbon footprint, utilizing solar power and other on-site renewable energy credits.

A day by the water is always a day well spent, and even better when it only costs you $2!
