Calgary Fire Department and police are investigating a house explosion in Calgary, that has left at least 10 people injured. One house was destroyed in the explosion, and others damaged.

CFD said in a news release that at about 9 a.m. on Monday morning, a "sudden and devastating explosion occurred at a home on Maryvale Way North East."

A Calgary man had a lucky escape when he got trapped in a garbage truck that compacted and was rescued largely uninjured.

In a statement, Calgary Fire Department said the incident had happened at around 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, on the 3000 block of 17 Ave. S.E., where the garbage truck had picked up a dumpster, lifted it overhead and emptied it into the back.

Calgary Police has launched an investigation after a stolen truck crashed into the side of a downtown Calgary grocery store, injuring three employees in the process.

In a statement, Calgary Fire Department said emergency services had received reports at around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, about a truck that "struck and broke through the west wall" of the Midtown Coop store at 1100, 11 Avenue Southwest.

Four children who were playing with matches accidentally set fire to a school bus in southeast Calgary, the fire department says.

Firefighters were called to tackle the blaze in an alley at 4315 26 Ave. S.E. at around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.
