Pierre Poilievre had zero chill after a comedian surprised him with a question (VIDEO)
Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre was not having it when a comedian surprised him with questions at a rally in Halifax.
In a video shared by 22 Minutes, a comedy show on CBC, correspondent Dan Dillabough attended Poilievre's "Spike the Hike: Axe the Tax Rally" in Halifax, where he put the politician on the spot in front of a rolling camera.
"Pierre Poilievre loves free speech. You can tell by the way he hates talking to the press and hasn't responded to any of our requests for an interview," Dillabough says at the start of the video.
It then cuts to Dillabough at the event, waiting in line to meet Poilievre. The interaction starts off strong but quickly goes south the longer Dillabough peppers Poilievre with questions and remarks.
"Wow, Pierre Poilievre, such an honour to meet you," Dillabough says, before introducing himself to the Conservative leader.
"Canada's next prime minister and laser eye surgery success story. Congratulations, I think you're doing an amazing job. If it was up to me, you'd be the leader of the opposition for the rest of your life."
The interaction also includes an awkward handshake that lasts their entire conversation — nearly 30 seconds of screen time — before Poilievre decides to let go and move on to the next person.
However, Dillabough wasn't done with the politician. He continues by praising how Poilievre is "cracking down on murderers, thieves, [and] CBC journalists."
Poilievre seems to have had enough and turns back to Dillabough to say, "This is why your ratings are so terrible."
Dillabough is ushered to leave by security staff, but he decides to wait in line again and do it all over again.
He then asks Poilievre which Canadian province is his "least favourite" and whether [Canada] can save money by "sinking PEI into the sea."
That's when Poilievre insinuates Dillabough is a "terrible comedian."
The video was shared on X and YouTube, and the public's reaction has been mixed. Some people find the interaction comical, while others seem annoyed.
"Laser-eye success story. PP may have no sense of humour, but I was entertained!" one person wrote on YouTube.
"This is garbage from a usually very funny show... nothing Pierre said was wrong," another person commented.
"What did I just watch? Was that supposed to be funny? Seriously," an X user said.
One person on X called Dillabough a "hero."
Another person said the video was "kind of amateur and weird."
Poilievre hasn't commented on the video since it was posted.
