Time is running out to claim up to $3,000 from the Dell class action lawsuit in Canada
If you've ever gotten one of those scammy tech support calls claiming to be from a reputable computer company, your chance to get money from a class action lawsuit in Canada could be slipping away fast.
The deadline to submit a claim as part of the Dell Canada class action lawsuit settlement is less than a month away — and eligible Canadians could get anywhere from $85 to $3,000, depending on what happened to them.
The class action lawsuit was launched after customer information was stolen from a service provider used by Dell, which allegedly led to a wave of scam calls targeting Dell users.
Now, a $2.1 million settlement has been approved by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia — but only those who act in time will get a slice of the payout.
Who can claim money from the Dell class action?
According to class counsel for the case, over 14,000 Canadians are eligible for a payout under the Dell class action.
This includes anyone who got an email from Dell on April 2, 2018, or January 25, 2019, about a data theft.
You're also in if you got a notice from Verita Global — the settlement administrator — on November 13, 2024.
If you didn't receive one of those notices, you're unfortunately not included in the class. If you're unsure, you can contact the administrator at dellsettlement@veritaglobal.com.
How much money can you get?
There are two types of payments available through the Dell class action settlement in Canada:
- Base Payment: If you're an eligible class member and you submit a filled-out Distribution Form by July 14, 2025, you'll receive at least $85. No proof of loss is required.
- Economic Loss Payment: You can claim up to $3,000 if you can show that the scam led to things like fraudulent credit card charges or computer repair costs. You'll need to upload receipts, bank statements or other supporting documents, plus complete a Statutory Declaration.
How do you claim your money?
If you're eligible, head to dellsettlement.ca to fill out the Distribution Form and upload your documents. Everything needs to be submitted — or postmarked — by July 14, 2025.
Also, if your email address has changed since 2018 or 2019, reach out to Verita Global immediately at dellsettlement@veritaglobal.com or 1-833-419-4499. If they can't contact you, you could miss out on your money.
Don't wait — the deadline is almost here
Whether you're aiming for the base $85 or hoping to claim a bigger loss, make sure you don't miss this rare chance to get money back from a class action lawsuit in Canada.
If you're one of the 14,180 people who got a notice, your time to act is now.
For full details, you can visit the official settlement website or check your inbox for that original email from Dell or Verita Global.
