'Canada's wine capital' is near Vancouver and it's even more magical in the fall (PHOTOS)
Fall is calling for a road trip, so you can wind through roads lined with deep oranges and bright yellows, and lucky for Vancouverites the wine capital of Canada is just a drive away.
Set within the beautiful Okanagan region is the town of Oliver, B.C., which has been dubbed 'Canada's Wine Capital' thanks to the rolling hills of vineyards that stretch throughout the area.
The small town is brimming with beauty all year round, but nothing beats sipping wine on a vineyard with the crisp fall hair and autumn foliage around you.
The drive from Vancouver to Oliver is about five hours, making it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway this fall.
A weekend away in Oliver means lots of wine tastings, and you can hop around from the smaller family-run estates to the big wineries in town.
There's even a wine village here, called District Wine Village, where you can explore 11 different wineries in one spot.
Make sure to add in stops at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery, French Door Estate Winery, Le Vieux Pin Winery, and Road 13 Vineyards.
While the town of Oliver is the official wine capital of the country, the surrounding needs to be explored as well. The nearby town of Osoyoos has incredible wineries too, and is home to the warmest lake in Canada.
While it might not be lake weather anymore, Osoyoos has a unique desert landscape, and it's worth visiting Osoyoos Desert Centre to learn more about unique ecosystem there.
