Ontario's weather this week is calling for snow flurries and the coldest temps since April
You might soon be wishing you'd put your winter tires on already, because Ontario's weather is about to take a chilly turn this week, with some regions around Georgian Bay even bracing for the first snowfall of the season!
According to the latest Ontario forecast from The Weather Network, some parts of the province could see their first snowflakes of the season between Tuesday and Wednesday, thanks to cold winds blowing across the Great Lakes.
If you're in Dufferin or Simcoe counties — especially in areas between Orangeville, along Highway 10 near Shelburne and up to Georgian Bay — you could be waking up to snow flurries as early as Tuesday morning, with overnight temperatures dipping close to freezing. The Weather Network forecasts that these regions have the highest chances of seeing some of the first snow accumulations of the season in the province.
But don't break out the shovels just yet! Warmer, above-seasonal weather is expected to return later this week, with temperatures potentially soaring above 20 degrees by the weekend, according to The Weather Network.
In the meantime, a widespread frost advisory was in effect on Tuesday morning, so be sure to cover up any sensitive plants. Most cities across southern and eastern Ontario — including Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Kingston and Winsor — are also in for some of their coldest days since April, with temperatures struggling to reach double digits early in the week.
So, while winter isn't here quite yet, it's giving us a little preview. Keep an eye out for those first flakes as early as Tuesday, and maybe start thinking about those snow tires sooner rather than later!
