Want to save on gas prices in Canada? Your wish is Circle K's command. The convenience store is rolling out the proverbial bargain bin for its Canadian patrons ahead of the Labour Day Long Weekend. They're calling it the global Circle K Day event, but we prefer the term "cheap gas bonanza."

For a three-hour window on Thursday, August 31, from 4 to 7 p.m., drivers will be able to save up to 10 cents off per litre. Not a bad way to kick off those Labour Day escape plans.

Drivers, brace yourselves! The needle on Canada's gas prices is nudging upwards yet again. Two cities are seeing notable hikes, while a few others remain stubbornly high. And if the experts are right, folks, this is just a sneak peek of what's to come.

On Tuesday, Peterborough, Ontario's go-to place for slightly-less-painful fill-ups, saw its gas pricing go up a whopping 10 cents, catapulting its average price to 166.9 cents per litre, its highest in weeks. Meanwhile, Sudbury, the only other city to record an increase, is putting on its own tightrope act with a 6-cent increase that brings its tally to 170.6 cents per litre.

Ontario gas prices are awful again. Pumps are at their highest since August, and another sizeable increase is expected for Friday. The inclines have been so steep that motorists could soon be fuelling up for over 20 cents more than they were at the beginning of the month.

According to Gas Wizard, most of the province will see their gas rates go up by 3 cents on October 28, 2022, bringing totals to 176.9 cents per litre for regions including the Greater Toronto Area, Niagara, Ottawa and Windsor-Essex.
