Only one Canadian city has cracked the top 10 on a new global ranking of the world's most livable cities — and it took the top spot in all of North America.

The Global Liveability Index 2025 was released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), and evaluates cities based on factors like infrastructure, healthcare, education, culture, and environment. This year's ranking of the world's most liveable cities placed Vancouver alongside global hubs like Copenhagen, Sydney, and Geneva.

Lush forests sit near the water and beneath the rolling mountains of this B.C. city, which perfectly balances serene nature with urban amenities. It's easy to imagine how it gained the title of the "most livable" city in all of Canada, set up for its residents to have a lifestyle blending adventure with productivity.

North Vancouver is a smaller city with easy access to the major metropolis of Vancouver, separated by the Burrard Inlet. It still has its own bustling downtown area though, that almost lives in juxtaposition to the wilderness that it's at the edge of.

The next time you complain about Toronto's freezing winters or the stormy summers, you might want to remind yourself that the 6ix is one of the top ten most livable cities in the world, according to a new study from the Economist Intelligence Unit.

The Global Liveability Index 2022 dropped, and Toronto managed to grab number eight on the worldwide list for best living conditions. Although Toronto wasn't the only Canadian city that managed to snag a spot.
