Ontario is home to the 'world's bluest lake' and it's a dreamy spot to spend the summer
If your idea of the perfect summer is days spent lounging by blue waters, look no further than this beautiful lake in Canada.
An Ontario lake was found to be the world's bluest lake, with gorgeous shimmering waters that you'll want to take a dip in this summer.
Online casino guide CanadaCasino conducted a colour analysis of over 80 popular lakes around the world, comparing them to YinMn Blue, the "truest shade of blue known."
In an email shared with Narcity, the company revealed that three of the world's bluest lakes can be found right here in Canada.
According to the study, Lake Ontario is the bluest lake in the world, with the smallest difference in colour from YinMn Blue out of any other lake analyzed.
The colour difference was measured using a DeltaE scale, where the smaller the number, the closer the lake's color is to true blue, with Lake Ontario having a difference of only 5.32.
The lake, on which you'll find cities including Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton, Oakville and Kingston, may not be the first that comes to mind when you think of summer escapes. However, you'll find that there are plenty of pleasant beaches on its shores, like Sandbanks, a gorgeous white-sand beach with rolling dunes.
There are also many charming small towns on the lake, like the aptly named Niagara-on-the-Lake and the quaint communities of Prince Edward County that are perfect for summer getaways.
Right behind Lake Ontario, Lake Superior was found to be the second bluest lake in the world. Located in northern Ontario, here, you'll find a number of outdoor adventures in parks like Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, Pukaskwa National Park, and Lake Superior Provincial Park.
Following Lake Superior, Lake Huron was found to have the third closest match to YinMn Blue.
On Lake Huron, you'll find coastal gems like the town of Tobermory, home of the famous grotto swimming hole, as well as some of Ontario's best beaches like Wasaga Beach, Sauble Beach and Grand Bend.
