Canada's spring weather will be delayed as the polar vortex brings 'messy winter storms'
A new forecast revealed that the polar vortex will keep Canada's weather wintry even into March.
If you've been hoping for an early spring, you'll have to wait a while longer as arctic air and "messy winter storms" hang around.
According to The Weather Network, the polar vortex and La Niña are teaming up to delay spring weather across the country.
Frigid temperatures will be persistent across Western Canada in February.
While relatively warmer weather will surge into southern Ontario, southern Quebec, and Atlantic Canada at times in February, it won't be an early start to spring.
That's because the polar vortex is expected to stay on the Canadian side of the North Pole, keeping arctic air ready to clash against milder conditions.
So, southern Ontario to Atlantic Canada is set to be a "battleground" between frigid winter weather and spring-like conditions.
The Weather Network has forecast a "temperature roller-coaster" and "messy winter storms" — with snow, ice and rain — throughout February.
Precipitation in Western Canada will be mostly snow, including in B.C.'s South Coast.
Toward the end of the month, it's expected that the warmer weather "will begin to fade" from southern Ontario to Atlantic Canada.
Arctic air will then be able to spread more easily across the country during late February and the first few weeks of March.
The Weather Network said that while Canada will get teased with spring-like weather a few times, you shouldn't expect consistent warmer weather to arrive early this year.
