Ontario's weather forecast calls for snow this weekend as the polar vortex plunges temps

Ontario's weather is expected to be very wintry with up to 15 cm of snow this weekend.
Then, the polar vortex will descend on the province and plunge temperatures.
A new forecast from The Weather Network is warning of "widespread snow across the province" on Friday, January 17 and into Saturday, January 18.
Between 5 cm and 15 cm of snow is expected for northern and central Ontario, along with parts of southern Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron.
There could be 3 cm of snow in Toronto and around 5 cm in the GTA by Saturday.
Snow mixed with rain is possible near the shores of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.
Next week, several days of lake-effect snow are forecast for snowbelt areas but shifting winds should spread the snow to more places.
The coldest temperatures of the season will freeze the province on Sunday, January 19 and that arctic air will continue through most of next week.
These are the forecast temperatures for Monday, January 20, according to The Weather Network:
- -12 C in Toronto
- -14 C in London
- -13 C in Windsor
- -13 C in Kingston
- -17 C in Ottawa
- -16 C in Parry Sound
- -20 C in Sudbury
- -24 C in Timmins
- -25 C in Thunder Bay
It's expected to be -20 C with the wind chill in Toronto, -23 C with the wind chill in Windsor, -23 C with the wind chill in Ottawa, -32 C with the wind chill in Timmins and -37 C with the wind chill in Thunder Bay!
Toronto's daytime high of -15 C on Tuesday, January 21 will be the coldest since January 2019.
According to The Weather Network, colder-than-normal temperatures will also continue into the last week of January.
