The derecho storm that tore through Ottawa on May 21 has closed several schools and caused power outages that could last up to four days, according to Hydro Ottawa.

"This event is significantly worse than both the ice storm of 1998 and the tornadoes of 2018," the electricity provider noted in a news release. The company says the storm knocked out at least 187 hydro poles.

A deadly storm that hit Ontario and Quebec this weekend also had scary consequences for some guests at Canada's Wonderland who weren't quite able to dodge the bad weather in time.

In a video posted to TikTok on Sunday, Wonderland guests appeared to start taking shelter during the storm that hit on Saturday, May 21. However, the focus quickly turned to several people who appeared to be stuck on the Behemoth roller coaster as the wind and rain raged on around them.
