Who is hosting the 2024 Oscars?
TV talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is back this year as the host of the 2024 Oscars.
This will be Kimmel's fourth time hosting the awards ceremony and the comedian's wife, Molly McNearney, is returning as the show's executive producer.
"I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times," Kimmel has previously said about the hosting gig as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
This might mean Sunday night will be Kimmel's final time hosting the show, but we'll just have to wait and see about that!
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Kimmel addressed how he's preparing for his opening monologue this year. The comedian said he's rewatched his monologue from the 2023 awards show to see what jokes worked and which ones didn't.
"It’s funny when they cut to certain celebrities and they’re not paying attention or not laughing. I do write their names on a list, and I will punish them in the future," Kimmel told the Hollywood Reporter.
He also said his fear when hosting is standing in front of a quiet audience more so than upsetting people with his jokes.
"I’m not interested in hurting anyone’s feelings, but sometimes some people are more sensitive than others and you just have to accept that," Kimmel added.
"You can’t build your monologue around that. And I’m not looking to say anything mean, but not everybody’s going to love all the jokes."
He also told the outlet that having certain friends in the audience helps put him at "ease."
If his long-time frenemy Matt Damon is at the awards show, he'll likely get roasted at some point by Kimmel.
Who is performing at the 2024 Oscars?
All of the best original song nominees will perform at the Academy Awards.
That means you'll see Canadian actor Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson perform "I'm Just Ken" from the 2023 Barbie film.
Another Barbie song viewers will see at the show is "What Was I Made For?" which will be performed by Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell.
