You've probably heard about well-known employee benefits and job perks like remote work, four-day workweeks, travel discounts and more, whether you're looking for work or already have a career.
But do you know that unlimited vacation is a perk that's actually offered by quite a few employers in Canada?
If you don't know about this job perk — including how it works and where it's available — we've got you covered!
Here are nine companies with unlimited vacation in Canada that just might make you consider applying for a new job.
HubSpot
If you don't know, HubSpot is a customer relationship management platform that provides marketing, sales, service and website management software and support to businesses.
The company has an office in Toronto and also offers remote and flexible working arrangements to employees in Canada.
Not only is there a company-wide week off in July every year, but HubSpot has unlimited vacation as well.
Employees are allowed to decide when and for how long they take time off throughout the year.
"Vacation can be used however you want; for tropical trips or flexible day-to-days. We also have Vacation Quota Relief to make sure it's truly unlimited for all," HubSpot shared.
LoKnow
LoKnow is an advertising tech and data company with locations in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Saskatoon, Toronto and Winnipeg.
It offers employees unlimited vacation for up to four weeks at a time.
Back in 2023, Narcity spoke with Anna Michele, the vice president of people and brand at Know Company Inc. which is the parent company of LoKnow, about the unlimited vacation policy.
"The biggest thing that we want to be conscious of is that it's a shared perk between employees," she said.
"One of the requirements is that there needs to be proper coverage during somebody's time off and that it's balanced between team members," the executive continued.
According to Michele, if somebody has taken less vacation in the year than their co-workers, management will follow up with that employee and make sure they have the opportunity to take time off.
While vacation days are unlimited, there is actually a maximum amount that an employee can take off at a time.
Employees are allowed to take up to four weeks off at a time.
But there is no limit to how many times they can do that in a year though!
Also, to ensure this job perk works for everyone at the company, there is a requirement everyone has to follow when it comes to notice time.
Michele revealed that the general rule is employees need to give notice of their vacation days that's at least five times the amount of time off they're taking.
"That just helps the team actually plan around it and prepare for what's coming up," the executive said.
iComply
iComply is a Vancouver-based software company that offers solutions for global compliance with anti-money laundering, data privacy and protection regulations.
The company's full-time staff members receive a "comprehensive" health and wellness benefits package which includes an unlimited vacation policy.
Alida

One of the job perks at this company is unlimited vacation which allows employees to take vacation whenever they want to and however they want to.
Back in 2023, Narcity chatted with Tanya Jarrett, the chief people officer at Alida, about the company's unlimited vacation policy.
"While there's no sort of fixed amount, we really do encourage our employees to take around a minimum of four weeks per year," Jarrett said.
That can always vary based on an employee's circumstances and more or less time off is allowed to fit the needs of workers.
"We've worked with our managers and people leaders to really ensure that employees are proactively planning vacations," Jarrett said. "That's what matters most, mutual trust."
Proactively planning vacations allows for everyone to be able to take time off when they want or need it.
"We really do encourage managers to encourage employees to take time off," the executive continued.
"It's all part of our mental wellness and emotional wellness and physical wellness. We need breaks."
While you might think offering unlimited time off would lead to employees taking advantage of the job perk, that's not the case at Alida.
"In terms of feedback or drawbacks, the introduction of unlimited vacation has not really presented us with any significant drawbacks," Jarrett revealed.

"You might think this much freedom would lead to chaos," Netflix said. "Instead, it has created an extremely successful business model over the last 25 years."
"The lesson is you don't need policies for everything. You can be groundbreaking without them," the company continued.
