Votes Are Still Being Counted In The US Election & There's No Clear Winner Yet

Trump has already attempted to claim the win.

Millions of Americans have awoken on Wednesday morning to no clear result. While Trump has already claimed the presidential win, the U.S. election has not been called for either him or his Democratic counterpart.

Although voting has closed across the United States, the extremely tight race means it has not yet been possible to confidently declare a winner.

As of 6:30 a.m. ET, per CBC News, the electoral college count stood at 224 votes for Biden versus 213 for Trump.

That said, “potentially millions” of outstanding votes across multiple swing states still need to be counted.

This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country. Frankly, we did win this election. Donald Trump

Despite no clear result, Trump has already declared that he will win the American election.

Speaking in the early hours of Wednesday morning, he said he would be prepared to take the election to the Supreme Court to stop the vote-counting, although he didn’t explain what legal route he would pursue.

"We'll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court," Trump said. "We want all voting to stop."

At the time of these comments all voting had ended, but ballots continue to be counted.

In response, Biden’s campaign manager told CBC News that the vote counting will not stop.

“It will continue until every duly cast vote is counted. Because that is what our laws — the laws that protect every Americans' constitutional right to vote — require,” they confirmed.
