As the pandemic continues into June, Gov. Greg Abbott continues to update residents on where the Lone Star State stands with the novel coronavirus. This week, Abbott shared a few updates for his fellow citizens, and as of yesterday, a new one was made. He announced Wednesday evening that Texas ranks No. 1 for most COVID-19 recoveries in all of America.

Abbott's announcement not only included that Texas is now at the top for most recoveries, but also that yesterday marked the fewest hospitalizations for COVID-19 in the past two months.

It's estimated that 45,858 Texans have recovered as of today by the Texas Health and Human Services, or HHS.

The governor has been sharing a lot of stats related to COVID-19 from the HHS website lately.

While there is still no cure for COVID-19, more Texans are shown to be recovering now than they have in the last several weeks.

"Today Texas had the fewest #COVID19 hospitalizations in the past 6 weeks," Abbott said on June 3, 2020, to his Twitter followers.

He followed this initial statement with, "And, we now rank #1 in America for the most recoveries from COVID."

On June 2, the governor said that the state had seen the fewest COVID-19 fatalities since late March, as well as the fewest locals testing positive for the virus in the past several weeks.

He also wrote that The Lone Star State was ranked No. 2 for the most recoveries in the U.S.

In an announcement made Tuesday regarding the protests in the state, the governor said, "We will not be asking the United States military to come into the state of Texas because we know Texans can take care of Texas."

Donald Trump quickly agreed with this statement, retweeting the quote from Abbott and adding that "Texas is in great shape."
