This Calgary restaurant was just ranked among the top 10 in Canada and it's a 'hidden' spot

This place is next-level.🍽️

A bar. Right: A Calgary restaurant.

EIGHT Calgary.

Contributor

The Calgary food scene just got some shine, because this intimate restaurant in the city has landed a spot among the top 10 best restaurants in the entire country.

Canada's 100 Best has released its 2025 Definitive Lists of Canada's Best Restaurants and Bars, and while eateries from across the country made the cut, only one Calgary spot cracked the top 10 on the restaurants list. The list was put together by 160 judges from across Canada, each sharing their top dining experiences from the past year.

Eight, a Calgary restaurant, stood out and landed in the sixth top spot on the ranking. The cozy restaurant has an exclusive feel thanks to its limited seating, and an ambiance that makes you feel like you're in a speakeasy.

Described by OpenTable as “hidden behind a door in the Lobby of Calgary’s Alt Hotel East Village,” the restaurant might seem unassuming at first — but stepping inside is like entering a secret culinary world.

Stepping in though you're greeting by immaculate decor, working to create a dark and intimate vibe. The Douglas fir bar is a stand-out here with only eight seats (which, yes, is a nod to the name).

Everything about a dinner here is personal — from the limited seating to the interactiveness of being close to the action of the meal preparation.

Plus, they actually have a speakeasy bar called "After Eight" here.

Going to Eight isn't just about getting meal, it's an experience.
