Cineplex is offering moviegoers a deal at theatres across Canada in January and February.

You can get cheap movie tickets and popcorn but you have to buy tickets and popcorn a certain way to get the discount!

The Canadian movie theatre chain announced that $5 Tuesdays are coming back across the country.

Every Tuesday from January 14 to February 11, you can get a general admission movie ticket for $5 plus tax and a small bag of popcorn for $5 plus tax at Cineplex theatres.

But the discounted $5 price only applies to tickets that are purchased in-theatre.

If you buy a movie ticket online for a Tuesday showing between January 14 and February 11, you will have to pay up to $6.50.

That's because of Cineplex's online booking fee.

Here's how the cost breaks down when you buy a movie ticket online for $5 Tuesdays:

  • CineClub members — $5 ticket
  • Scene+ members — $5 ticket plus a $1 online booking fee
  • everyone else — $5 ticket plus a $1.50 online booking fee

You can also upgrade your $5 general admission ticket to any premium experience but you'll still have to pay an additional cost to upgrade,

With the $5 Tuesdays deal, you can get a small popcorn for $5 plus tax at concessions.

But toppings are an extra charge and the $5 price doesn't apply for Poptopia popcorn or concession combos.

Also, you can't get the $5 popcorn deal through delivery or purchases made with Cineplex mobile ordering.

Cineplex shared that regular Tuesday discounted pricing continues all year so moviegoers can see new releases at cheaper prices. Scene+ members get an additional 10% off the ticket price on regular Tuesdays.
