In an update about how many Canadians have been vaccinated, Justin Trudeau announced that 41% of adults in Canada have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

During a press conference on May 7, the prime minister shared the milestone and asked Canadians to do their part by making an appointment to get a dose as soon as it's their turn.

"Vaccines are our way out of this crisis," Trudeau said.

He thanked the provinces and territories for working hard to get doses to people as quickly as possible along with health care workers for being part of the country's vaccination effort.

A week before Canada reached this milestone, a province got there too and it was announced that 40% of adults in Ontario had received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
