Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey has found a life beyond acting in recent years as a professor at the University of Texas in his hometown of Austin.

Now it seems he could soon be diving into a field, as he has teased not once, but twice that he is interested in running for Governor of Texas.

While speaking on The Balanced Voice podcast on Wednesday, the Interstellar star said the idea of running for office is "a true consideration."

This statement comes just four months after he first teased possibly dipping into Texas politics on the Hugh Hewitt Show, saying "I mean, that wouldn’t be up to me. It would be up to the people more than it would me."

The Texas gubernatorial election will be held on November 8, 2022, and current Governor Greg Abbott will be up for reelection for his third term in office.
