This Florida State Park Has A Secret 'Mountain' That'll Give You Incredible Views

Climb to the peak of Florida's secret mountain!⛰️
Contributor

When you think of Florida's natural terrain, the word "mountain" doesn't normally come to mind. The Sunshine State is generally flat, but it does have hilly expanses and even some sky-high sights. One Florida state park even has a secret mountain that'll give you incredible views.

The "mountain" is part of Jonathan Dickinson State Park just up the road from South Florida's urban sprawl. As a central feature of the park, it draws in visitors to make the ascent to the summit.

Hobe Mountain is not a mountain in the traditional sense. In actuality, it's a very large sand dune that is 86 feet above sea level, one of the highest points in South Florida.

The mountain is a member of the Atlantic Coastal Ridge, which forms a series of sand dunes that span the coastline in this part of The Sunshine State.

Unlike traditional mountains, Hobe Mountain will provide relative ease to reach the summit.

The climb to the mountain top involves the use of a boardwalk that snakes its way through the park's scrubland before reaching the stairs that leads to the top of Hobe Mountain Tower.

The observational tower, which stands 27 feet, acts as the "summit" to Hobe Mountain.

Once you reach the top of the tower, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the park that surrounds it.

In the panoramic shot, you'll get a view of not only the park but the beaches that border John Dickinson State Park.

A climb up this seaside peak will reward the curious explorer with amazing views from the top of Florida's secret mountain.
