It's no surprise that air travel has become much more difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but new rules and regulations can get you more than just a slap on the wrist.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced they are toughening up their rules and handing out stricter punishment that could even land you in jail.

Editor's Choice: Yet Another Person Was Caught On Camera Refusing To Wear A Mask On A Flight (VIDEO)

Flying is the safest mode of transportation and I signed this order to keep it that way.  Steve Dickson, FAA Administrator

The order comes in response to multiple incidents where passengers became aggressive when told to put masks on during flights.

"Passengers who interfere with, physically assault, or threaten to physically assault aircraft crew or anyone else on an aircraft face stiff penalties," said the FAA.

Those penalties are stiff indeed as incidents such as this can now land you in jail and even cost you a whopping $35,000 fine.

Delta Airlines is also taking its own actions to prevent incidents like this from ever happening again.

The airline has now put 880 people on a no-fly list for refusing to wear masks, according to Reuters. They've also banned many other passengers related to the United States Capitol riots, who were reportedly harassing others on the plane.
