Over $3K Raised For Ottawa Puppy Who Was Thrown Out The Window Of A Moving Car

Gilbert is still recovering.

The community has rallied around a 9-week-old Pekingese puppy named Gilbert, raising over $3,000 for his medical care, according to the Ottawa Humane Society (OHS).

The society reports that Gilbert was thrown out of a moving car window earlier this month on Laperriere Avenue in Ottawa, sustaining serious injuries, including three broken ribs near his spine.

OHS told Narcity that he is "recovering very well" and "resting in the care of an experienced OHS foster volunteer."

"Once Gilbert is fully recovered, and we've had the chance to assess his behaviour, the next step will be finding his forever family."

When the pup was recovered, the organization reached out to the community, asking to raise $3,000 to help pay his medical bills. They have already surpassed that goal.

"The community showed incredible support for Gilbert and surpassed his fundraising goal — which will help provide life-saving care for animals just like Gilbert," OHS told Narcity.
