A new forecast revealed that Ontario's weather will be "hazardous" because of up to 40 cm of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain.

Winter storm and snowfall warnings have been issued across the province, including in Toronto and the GTA.

This snowstorm is expected to start in the afternoon on Wednesday, February 12 and continue through the night into the morning on Thursday, February 13.

Environment Canada has issued winter storm and snowfall warnings across southern Ontario along with weather advisories.

These places in Ontario are under winter storm warnings:

Snow will begin on Wednesday evening, continue through the overnight, and taper off on Thursday afternoon.

Between 15 cm and 20 cm is expected in these places, including Toronto and the GTA.

"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions," Environment Canada said.

Snow will begin late in the afternoon on Wednesday and be heavy at times.

It could become mixed with ice pellets in the evening and overnight in some areas. Then, the snow will gradually taper off on Thursday morning.

  • St. Thomas - Aylmer - Eastern Elgin County
  • Windsor - Leamington - Essex County

Up to 10 cm of snow is expected in these places.

Snow will mix with freezing rain or ice pellets on Wednesday evening or overnight. Then, it will transition to rain early on Thursday morning.

You should prepare for "hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans," according to Environment Canada.
