401 crash

Heavy snow has fallen across much of southern Ontario since Wednesday morning, and because of that, it's been a hectic 24 hours for Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

In that time, Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says officers have been called to about 300 crashes, with another 25 collisions reported throughout Thursday morning's commute, despite the fact that roads have been mostly cleared.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga Wednesday morning that left one male pedestrian dead and sent a female pedestrian to the hospital.

Police said at around 5:00 a.m., two people had gotten out of their vehicle in the express lanes of the westbound 401 between Renforth Drive and Dixie Road and one of them was struck and killed.

A major collision on the 401 near Oshawa Tuesday morning left one person dead and the footage from the scene is really quite unbelievable.

Ontario Provincial Police said the crash at Holt Road at around 6:25 a.m. involved seven vehicles in total and claimed the life of a 64-year-old man from Pickering who was driving a transport truck.
