An Alberta Lotto 6/49 Winner Was Running Errands Before A Trip & Went Home With A $1 Million
A Canadian lottery winner from Alberta was running some errands he had to do before leaving for a trip and went back home with a million dollars.
Eduardo Santos, a Calgary resident, won $1 million in a Lotto 6/49 draw on October 18, 2023. He was leaving for a trip he had planned the next day but decided to check the tickets he had previously bought while out.
"I had a couple tickets and thought I should check them before leaving the country," Santos told Western Canada Lottery Corporation. "I scanned this ticket and saw so many zeroes – I had to check the ticket a few times to make sure I counted properly."
The lottery winner said that they were a lot calmer than expected upon realizing just how much money they had won. All he wanted to do was go home and tell his wife, but that didn't mean it was business as usual.
"I did find it hard to concentrate when we left for our trip the next day – I almost forgot my bag at home!" he shared.
A few months have passed since the initial life-changing win, and the Calgary resident said he will be using the million dollars to pay off his mortgage, share it with his daughters and use it as a step closer to retirement.
Santos bought his winning lottery ticket from the 7-Eleven on 162 Avenue SW in Calgary.
