Attention shoppers, Costco is offering free gift cards that can save you even more money at the wholesaler.
So, if you have a Costco membership and know someone who wants to join, you can get money off a purchase without spending a dollar!
The wholesale retailer has a Refer a Friend promo that not only gets you an online voucher but also gets someone you know an online voucher when they sign up for a membership.
You need to bring a friend — or a family member or someone else you know — to any membership counter at a Costco location in Canada.
When that person signs up for a new Costco membership, you have to show the online Refer a Friend page to the membership clerk working at Costco.
Then, you will each receive an online voucher that gets you money off a purchase!
Someone is considered a new member if they've never had a Costco membership before or if their membership has been expired for 18 months or more.
When you get someone to sign up for an Executive membership, you both get a $50 voucher that can be used for online orders of at least $150.
When you get someone to sign up for a Gold Star membership, you each receive a $25 online voucher for orders with a minimum spend of $100.
This Refer a Friend offer at Costco Canada is only available until Friday, April 14, 2024.
Then, you can use the voucher — either the $50 or the $25 voucher — to get money off an online purchase until Sunday, May 12, 2024.

With the Executive membership, there is a $120 annual membership fee and you get:
- access to online shopping in Canada and all Costco locations worldwide
- an annual 2% reward on qualified warehouse, online and Costco Travel purchases
- exclusive offers and additional discounts
- access to the Costco Connection magazine and Costco.ca flyer
There is a cheaper Gold Star membership that has a $60 annual membership fee. You get:
- access to all Costco locations worldwide and online shopping in Canada
Back in 2023, Narcity asked Canadians if a Costco membership is worth it and while some said that it's not, quite a few people shared that the cost of an Executive membership is worthwhile.
That's because of the cashback reward. Also, a few shoppers even said the membership pays for itself with the cashback.
