Edmonton police responded to a situation at City Hall after shots were fired and a Molotov cocktail was thrown inside the building.
Police blocked off streets around Edmonton City Hall just before noon on Tuesday following the incident and asked the public to avoid the area.

Police said they arrested one person and officers were doing "a sweep of City Hall."
In a follow-up tweet, they confirmed "shots were fired" and a "Molotov cocktail was thrown inside City Hall." No injuries were reported.
According to CTV News, shots could be heard on the live feed from a committee meeting happening inside around 10:25 a.m. MST and the meeting was "immediately put into recess."
In an update just before 3 p.m. MST, Edmonton police said the incident inside City Hall was over and roads were beginning to reopen. They also stated there was no "threat to the public."
City Hall remained closed as police continued their investigation.

They did confirm the Molotov cocktail was thrown from the building's second floor.
They asked the public to "refrain from sharing details on the locations and activities of the officers on scene to ensure officer and public safety."
