The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is preparing for possible protests as the anniversary of the "Freedom Convoy" approaches.

Police Chief Eric Stubbs said in a news conference Monday that a "scalable" response is in the works to allow for a lawful, peaceful, and safe protest to take place but would prevent any similar type of vehicle-based protest and occupation like in 2022.

Ontario's police watchdog just found that the freedom convoy protester who claimed she was seriously injured by a police horse wasn't harmed enough to carry on with a full investigation.

The Special Investigations Unit was looking into the allegations of a "serious injury" reportedly suffered by a 49-year-old woman during the protests in Ottawa. According to the April 4 release, the protester was knocked onto the ground by a mounted Toronto Police Service officer on February 18.

The Ontario government just revealed it is doling out a lot of cash to all of the local businesses in Ottawa that were hit hard by the effects of the Freedom Convoy protests.

In a news release posted on March 4, the provincial government announced that they will be handing out $11.5 million to all of Ottawa's local businesses that were affected by the weeks-long occupation.

The Ontario government has announced that they will be lifting the state of emergency that was declared during the Freedom Convoy as of 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

A statement from the Office of Premier Doug Ford reads, "In alignment with the federal government, Ontario will be terminating its declaration of a state of emergency as of 5:00 p.m. today."
