Almonte is a historic village and former mill town nestled along the scenic shores of the Mississippi River, about an hour away from Ottawa.
The destination is extra magical during the Christmas season and has even been nicknamed the "Hallmark Capital" of Ontario and the "Christmas Capital of Ontario" according to the National Trust for Canada, due to the many festive films that have been shot there.
According to The New York Times, Almonte is a "go-to location for holiday movies set in Vermont, Alaska and even Milwaukee."
Over 10 festive films have used Almonte as a backdrop, and you can even take a self-guided tour around the town to discover some of the destinations featured in Hallmark films and other pictures.
