Toronto Restaurants: 4 New Resto Openings, New Menus To Check Out & 2 Spots That Said Goodbye
Toronto's food scene is changing so often that it's hard to keep up, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing. In fact, it makes for an exciting and riveting city.
With that in mind, here is a rundown of some Toronto restaurants that are closing after serving Torontonians for a few years, as well as new spots and menus to get excited about.
If you were hoping to brunch this weekend, we've got two Toronto restaurants that have added new menus that are definitely worth checking out and a rooftop restaurant that's decked out in winter cabin vibes.

New Toronto Restaurant Openings
- Pret-a-Manger is finally opening its first-ever standalone cafe in Toronto, so you won't have to pop into an A&W anymore to get your hands on a coffee and croissant while on the go. The U.K. cafe will open its first standalone location in the 6ix at 90 Adelaide Street West. You can check it out on February 5.
- A new food hall opened in Toronto alongside Oliver & Bonacini and it's in Toronto's infamous PATH. The spot is called One York Food Hall and features restaurants like Curryosity, Lala's Cantina, Underground Sandwich, Happy Tangle and Beauty's Fried Chicken.
- Mandy's is opening in Toronto's The Well, and it'll be serving salads and cookies to people in the Entertainment District. Its official opening date is February 5, but stay tuned for more updates.
- Another Local Public Eatery location is opening, but it will be right in the heart of the Financial District this time. The new spot will officially open on February 1 at 141 Adelaide St. West.
New menus at these Toronto Restaurants
- Chotto Matte, a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant known for its lively summer brunches, has a new Niwa brunch, and you can get bottomless drinks all morning long. Every Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., you can enjoy menus ranging from $65 to $85 filled with sushi, pancakes, waffles and more. For an extra $50, guests can enjoy bottomless cocktails and they are so thirst-quenching.
- The Bisha Hotel has a new apres ski event called Kost Chalet, where you can dress in your finest winter-core attire and enjoy cheese fondue, duck confit poutine and other heartwarming dishes. You can also sip on delicious cocktails from the 44th floor of the hotel.
- Holts Cafe has a new Lunar New Year afternoon tea, and you can sip on tea while enjoying a tower filled with matcha cucumber sandwiches, bao buns and dumplings. It's available from January 25 to March 3 and costs $78 per person.
Closing Toronto Restaurants
- A famous and popular waffle shop closed its doors and said goodbye to Toronto and left a hole in people's hearts. Members Only Waffle House used to serve naughty phallic-shaped waffles and was a fan favourite because it was just super fun. But they've sadly closed their doors in December and have left the bustling corner Queen St. West empty.
- Big Fat Burrito, a Kensington Markets Mexican restaurant, has also decided to leave the community after 18 years of serving Torontonians. They stated on their website that "due to recent economic hardships," they've chosen to close their restaurant.
