Where Canada's first Shake Shack location will be has finally been revealed and it's going to transform one of the busiest intersections in Toronto.
Shake Shack announced that it would be opening its first Canadian location in Toronto in 2024, and people have been eagerly awaiting it since.
Why you should care: Shake Shack is one of the world's leading fast-food burger chains and after opening in many cities like London, Singapore and Dubai, it'll finally find a home in Toronto too. The best part is that it's going to be in a convenient location.
According to Retail Insider, Canada's first Shake Shack will replace the Adidas store at Yonge and Dundas Square.
Not only that, but Shake Shack will be opening alongside a new Hard Rock Cafe and The Ballroom Bowl, which will really transform the area.
The Urban Toronto Forum released the plan that shows Shake Shack as a tenant. According to the layout, Shake Shack will occupy 7,311 square feet and be huge.
Narcity reached out to Shake Shack for further comment but has not heard back in time for publication.
What they're saying: In the original announcement that Shake Shack released in 2023 when it was making its way to Canada, Michael Kark, the Chief Global Licensing Officer of Shake Shack, said that they had "been eyeing this incredible opportunity in Canada for quite some time."
ICYMI: Shake Shack has not shared any formal announcements since the last press release in 2023.
The fast food chain did say that they plan to open 35 locations in Canada by 2035, with the first one expected to open in 2024 in Toronto. Torontonians can expect to indulge in menu items like the ShackBurger, Chicken Shack and their famous crinkle-cut fries.
They also hinted that the menu would include "bespoke Canada-exclusive items." — Imagine trying a Shack Poutine. Yum!
Retail Insider also shared that the popular The Ballroom Bowl will occupy 13,800 square feet on the third floor in The Tenor. Meanwhile, Hard Rock Cafe will return to the city and replace the Milestones that were once tenants in the square.
@narcitytoronto Shake Shack is set to open its first Canadian location in Toronto later this year. But Narcity’s Mira Nabulsi can’t wait. She gave the popular American fast food chain a try for the first time while travelling in London, U.K., and she’s come to the conclusion that Canadians really have been missing out! Here’s her humble review of the franchise that’ll be in the Great White North soon enough. #toronto #shakeshack #londonuk #ontario #narcity #canada
What comes next: There is still no word about when to expect the Shake Shack in Toronto to open officially, but let's hope it's sooner rather than later.
