Hudson's Bay is planning to close all remaining stores and here's what to know about sales
Hudson's Bay is now expected to close all remaining stores in Canada.
That means liquidation sales are starting at even more locations, so here's what you need to know.
Despite a plan to keep six stores open while closing most locations in Canada, it's "unlikely" restructuring will save the retailer, The Bay's financial advisors said in a court affidavit, according to the Toronto Star.
Excluding those six stores from the liquidation sale is "negatively impacting" the retailer.
So, it has "decided to include these six stores in the liquidation sale."
Hudson's Bay is still hoping for a successful bid, and if that happens, stores could be withdrawn from liquidation sales.
It was announced in March that most Hudson's Bay stores in Canada would close, along with all Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks Off 5th locations.
That included all locations in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia, but only some Hudson's Bay stores in Ontario and Quebec.
These stores were expected to remain open:
- Hudson's Bay flagship store on Yonge Street in Toronto
- store at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto
- store at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill, Ontario
- store in downtown Montreal
- store at Carrefour Laval Mall in Laval
- store in Pointe-Claire, Quebec
Now, the six stores will start liquidation sales on Friday, April 25, 2025, according to the Toronto Star.
All sales are final during the liquidation sales, and stores aren't accepting returns even if you bought an item before the liquidation process started.
The Hudson’s Bay Rewards program is paused both online and in-store.
"At this time, customers are unable to earn or redeem points. We are not able to track or accumulate points on transactions made during this time and apply them retroactively," said a notice on The Bay's site.
Hudson's Bay gift cards are no longer being accepted either.
It's expected that the Hudson's Bay liquidation sales will end by Sunday, June 15, 2025.
There is also a Hudson's Bay warehouse sale in Toronto every Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. for a limited time.
Discounts of up to 60% off are available on furniture, home decor, kitchenware, apparel, toys and more products.
