Hudson's Bay is closing stores across the country soon.

These store closures in Canada mean locations are having liquidation sales now.

So, here's what you need to know about which stores are closing, which locations are staying open, what liquidation sales are like, and more.

Which Hudson's Bay stores are closing?

Most of the 80 Hudson's Bay stores in Canada will be closing along with all of the three Saks Fifth Avenue stores and 13 Saks Off 5th locations.

That includes all locations in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia.

Only some Hudson's Bay stores in Ontario and Quebec will be closed.

Which Hudson's Bay stores are staying open?

Six Hudson's Bay stores are expected to stay open after the company's liquidation is complete, according to The Canadian Press.

All of the locations are in Ontario and Quebec.

These are the stores that are staying open:

  • Hudson's Bay flagship store on Yonge Street in Toronto
  • location at Yorkdale Mall in Toronto
  • store at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill, Ontario
  • store in downtown Montreal
  • location at Carrefour Laval Mall in Laval
  • store in Pointe-Claire, Quebec

There is no guarantee that all of these stores will be spared from closure.

The Canadian Press reported that the six locations staying open could eventually be liquidated too.

However, if the company secures additional financing, more stores could remain open.

What are Hudson's Bay liquidation sales like?

Hudson's Bay liquidation sales start on Monday, March 24, 2025.

All sales are final at the liquidating stores so you won't be able to return or exchange any products you buy during the sale.

The Bay has stores within a store and some of those retailers have asked for inventory to be removed, according to The Canadian Press. But others are expected to include products in liquidation sales.

Discounts might get bigger as the liquidation sale goes on to ensure all remaining products are sold off before stores are closed.

You might even be able to buy store displays, racks, signs and other furniture that isn't usually for sale.

When are Hudson's Bay liquidation sales over?

It's expected that Hudson's Bay liquidation will end by Sunday, June 15, 2025.

However, some locations could sell out of items before then.

What happens to Hudson's Bay Rewards and gift cards?

The retailer has told customers that the Hudson’s Bay Rewards program is currently paused both online and in-store.

"At this time, customers are unable to earn or redeem points. We are not able to track or accumulate points on transactions made during this time and apply them retroactively," said a notice on The Bay's site.

If you have Hudson's Bay gift cards, you can only use them until Sunday, April 6, 2025.

After that, gift cards and gift certificates will not be accepted.

You can check your gift card balance online to see how much you have left to spend.

When are Hudson's Bay store closing?

Hudson's Bay stores are expected to close by Monday, June 30, 2025.

That includes Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks Off 5th stores in Canada.
