BC's weather forecast is calling for a storm with up to 50 mm of rain and 50 cm of snow
The B.C. weather forecast is looking like a mixed bag of wind, rain, and lots of snow for some parts of the province. Heading into the weekend people should brace themselves for the incoming storm.
While some strong winds just hit the province, another system is already coming in, set to bring more gusts and widespread rainfall.
The Weather Network said that more ferry delays are possible with the strong gusts expected, as well as heavy snowfall in the mountains and lots of rain in Vancouver.
The rain is set to start on Friday afternoon, and become "widespread" by the evening. The precipitation will make for lots of snow in the mountains and highway passes though, before the storm starts to wind down on Saturday.
Metro Vancouver is predicted to get 30-50 mm of rainfall by Saturday, with the most expected around Abbotsford. The Coquihalla Pass and Allision Pass are set to get 30-50 cm of snow during the storm, so travellers should "expect significant delays and potential road closures as a result of the ample snows headed for this region into the first half of the weekend," TWN warned.
Along with the precipitation high winds are also expected, with gusts of up to 60 km/h blowing up the Georgia Strait that "will shift toward the Lower Mainland through the day, potentially affecting ferry service later on Saturday."
