This Ontario beach feels like a Mediterranean island and was named among North America's best
When you think of North America's best beaches, visions of Florida's white sands or Mexico's sun-drenched shores might come to mind. However, you don't need to hop on a plane to discover one of these dreamy gems. This Ontario beach was ranked among the continent's finest, and it's a crystal-water dream come true.
Boasting turquoise waves and limestone shores, it looked like it was plucked from a Mediterranean island, and is a magical spot for a summer escape.
Earlier this summer, the World's 50 Best Beaches revealed the 2025 list of North America's 50 Best Beaches, highlighting beautiful destinations across Mexico, the U.S., and Canada.
The best spots to visit were voted on by more than 1,000 travel professionals, including judges, Beach Ambassadors, and the World's 50 Beaches team.
Out of the 50 beaches featured, two Canadian spots made the list, including one dreamy Ontario gem.
Indian Head Cove came in at 48th on the list, beating the Tropic of Cancer beach in the Bahamas and Hidden Beach in Mexico.
This breathtaking gem is located along the rugged shores of Bruce Peninsula National Park, about 4 and a half hours from Toronto. The inlet boasts beautiful, turquoise waters so clear, you can see right down to the bottom.
While the waves might look tropical, don't expect them to feel tropical. The water is known for its icy temperatures, making it a refreshing spot for a dip on a hot summer day.
Indian Head Grove is located near the Grotto — an iconic natural wonder consisting of an ancient sea cave with a pool of blue water.
While it doesn't have soft sand, Indian Head Cove's limestone shoreline gives it a dreamy Mediterranean feel, and you'll be whisked away to a Greek island as you take a dip in the glass-like water.
The beach is a not-so-hidden gem, so you'll need to book a reservation online through Parks Canada to visit. There is about half an hour of hiking required to reach the beach, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes.
Aside from Indian Head Cove and the Grotto, Bruce Peninsula National Park offers stunning hikes, such as the Halfway Log Dump trail, which leads past a beautiful cobble beach.
You can also take a trip to the nearby town of Tobermory — a charming harbour village with quaint shops and cozy patios.
The only other Canadian spot to make the 2025 list of North America's 50 Best Beaches is B.C.'s San Josef Bay, ranked at number 32.
The Bruce Peninsula National Park has free admission until September 2, so it's time ot plan that summer adventure.
