A World–Renowned Japanese Restaurant Is Opening In This New 5-Star Luxurious Toronto Hotel
Toronto's food scene just keeps getting better, especially when it comes to world-renowned restaurants that have yet to enter the Canadian market.
Katsuya by sbe is a famous contemporary Japanese restaurant found and enjoyed in major cities like Miami, Dubai and New York — watch out Nobu, you've got some major competition.
The restaurant plans to open its first Canadian location in Toronto on the second floor of the first-ever Freed Hotel.
The Freed Hotel and Residences will be located on Adelaide and Duncan, costing around $800 million to develop.
"The project will feature 100 five-star luxury hotel rooms and 400 luxury condominiums with a world-class Skybar/restaurant on the 63rd floor, boutique spa, and a 10,000 sq ft Katsuya Restaurant on the 2nd floor," a press release states.
Now, don't get too excited just yet because the hotel and restaurant opening is set for fall 2028, but that doesn't mean we can't look forward to it.
At Katsuya, you can expect to indulge in a menu curated by Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi, "who merges the elegance of Japanese cuisine with modern techniques and flavours, will feature staples from the 20-year tradition of excellence that has brought Katsuya international acclaim, and new dishes imagined especially for Toronto."
"Sbe's Katsuya is a groundbreaking fusion that ignited a new sushi trend that swiftly spread throughout the culinary industry," the press release added.
The development will also show Torontonians the work of Takashi Murakami, a Japanese artist known for his pop art.
The hotel lobby will feature his "Together with the Flower Parent and Child" artwork, making it an iconic place to visit.
The skyscraper will be located at 240 Adelaide St. W., in Toronto.
