The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is looking to hire for jobs that pay up to $44 an hour.
Positions are available in maintenance, repairs, mechanics, and more.
Here are nine TTC jobs you can apply for right now that are high paying.
Coach and Automotive Apprentice
Salary: $25.72 to $42.89 an hour
Company: TTC
Who Should Apply: You must have completed a grade 12 technical program in automotive technology or have completed an automotive certificate program at a community college.
Also, you must have a valid Ontario G driver's license and a set of hand tools as required by the TTC.
If you get hired, you'll be required to complete TTC courses.
The deadline to apply is March 16, 2025.
General Body Repairperson
Salary: $44.38 an hour, plus a $1.75 an hour skilled trade premium
Company: TTC
Who Should Apply: You must have a valid auto body and collision damage repair certificate (310-B) — normally obtained through grade 12 education — and completed the apprenticeship training program or an equivalent.
Also, you must have:
- a valid Ontario G driver's license
- communication and interpersonal skills
- attention to detail, accuracy, and safety skills
- knowledge of and experience using computers to input and retrieve vehicle repair and labour reporting information
- a set of hand tools as per the list established by the TTC
You need to be able to pass TTC tests related to the knowledge, theory or practical requirements of the job.

Structure Rehabilitation Vehicle Operator
Salary: $32.26 to $41.91 an hour
Company: TTC
Who Should Apply: You need to have training that's normally obtained through the completion of a grade 12 technical program or a recognized equivalent.
It's required that you have experience with and knowledge of concrete and structural steel repairs involving abrasive blast cleaning, layout/placement of reinforcing steel, and use of concrete materials.
That's normally acquired through approximately 12 months of structural concrete repair experience.
Also, you need to:
- be able to comprehend verbal and written instruction, and follow operating and safety rules and regulations
- be able to speak clearly to exchange information and instructions with the Control Centres
- be able to follow proper radio and telephone protocol;
- pass a vision test
- have a valid Ontario G driver's license
- be certifiable to wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program;

General Painter — Licensed
Salary: $43.11 an hour, plus a $1.75 an hour skilled trade premium
Company: TTC
Who Should Apply: You need up to three and a half years of experience, which includes one year as a painter's improver.
Also, a certificate of qualification as a Commercial and Residential Painter and Decorator — normally obtained through grade 12 education and the completion of the apprenticeship training program — is required.
You must have a valid Ontario G driver's license as well.
If you get hired, you'll have to pass written and driving tests for the operation of TTC vehicles and forklifts, and become familiar with the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Structure Repairperson
Salary: $32.26 to $41.91 an hour
Company: TTC
Who Should Apply: You must have practical experience and knowledge of bridge/structure repairs involving abrasive blast cleaning, structural steel repairs/coating, use of concrete, injection grouting and more.
This is normally acquired through 24 months of structural repair experience.
You also need:
- training obtained through the completion of a grade 12 technical program, a recognized equivalent, or 24 months of Structure Rehabilitation Vehicle Operator experience plus an Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- a valid Ontario G driver's license
- ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions and follow operating and safety regulations
- ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to exchange information and instructions with the Transit Control Centre
- ability to follow proper radio and telephone protocol
- certifiable to wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program
If you get hired, you must complete training programs for transportation of dangerous goods and confined space entry, and become familiar with the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Rail Transit Car Mechanic Trainee
Salary: $32.26 to $44.94 an hour
Company: TTC
Who Should Apply: You must have completed a grade 12 technical program or a recognized equivalent.
Also, you need to have:
- completed community college courses in mechanical theory, or equivalent mechanical experience and ability
- completed community college courses in machine shop practices, fluid power (hydraulics and pneumatics), and principles of electrical theory (AC and DC fundamentals)
It's required that you have a valid Ontario G driver's license and the ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions.
If you get hired, you'll have to complete the TTC's training program, and pass tests related to knowledge, theory or practical requirements of the position.

Structure Mechanic
Salary: $33.22 to $43.11 an hour

Who Should Apply: You need training normally obtained through a grade 12 technical program or a recognized equivalent.

- application of tunnel leak materials
- construction of leak control devices
- abrasive blast cleaning

- concrete repairs to bridges and tunnels
It's required that you have:
- the ability to comprehend verbal and written instruction, and follow published operating and safety rules and regulations

- a valid Ontario G driver's license
- been certified to wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program

Track Patroller Trainee
Salary: $32.26 to $41.91 an hour

Who Should Apply: You must have completed a grade 12 technical program, or have the equivalent practical experience in track alignment, track inspection and maintenance standards, track repair techniques, and more.
Also, you need:
- knowledge of subway track maintenance standards and repair techniques (normally acquired through 24 months of experience in subway maintenance and repair work)
- completion of Way Training Centre courses for the Subway Track Mechanic program
- to be a fully qualified Subway Track Mechanic
- a valid Ontario G driver's license
- understanding of basic computer operations
- ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions
- ability to speak clearly to exchange information

- wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program
