The TTC just got some major recognition, but it's not for reasons you might expect. The transit system was ranked among the best metros in the world for one surprising factor, and it even beat NYC.

Sleep apnea equipment company CPAP recently released a study of "The World's Top 20 Sleep-Friendly Metro Rail Systems" and the TTC was named second-best.

The study looked at 65 metro stations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Europe and analyzed factors such as air conditioning, seating options, cleanliness, WiFi, and city quality of life.

Toronto was the only Canadian city to make the top 20 and was beat by Australia's Sydney Metro which came in at number one.

"Globally, the TTC in Toronto, Canada, ranks as the second most sleep-friendly metro system, boasting a 91.5% cleanliness rating, though its customer satisfaction rate is only 71%," the study says.

"But this isn’t so bad for a metro system that spans 79 stations and services over 302.5 million riders annually. The TTC also offers passengers air conditioning throughout stations and subway cars, bathroom access, and WiFi access."

You can find a full ranking of the best and worst metro systems in the world for sleeping here.

With this report in mind, the TTC may not be a bad spot for a quick nap.
