10 Canadian universities were just ranked among the best in the world for employability
There's good news ahead for Canadian students and alumni — 10 universities across the country have been ranked among the best in the world when it comes to graduates getting hired, with one even landing in the global top 20!
On November 14, Times Higher Education released its 2025 Global Employability University Ranking, and Canada showed up strong, with ten Canadian schools making the cut.
The list, which ranks universities based on how well they prepare students for the job market (according to top employers), has a few Canadian schools climbing the ranks — and a couple with a bit of catching up to do.
Leading the pack is none other than the University of Toronto, which snagged the 14th spot globally, making it the highest-ranking Canadian school on the list.
Montreal's McGill University wasn't far behind, claiming 31st place worldwide for the second year in a row. The University of British Columbia also held its ground at 36th, once again proving that Vancouver is a big player when it comes to education.
However, the Université de Montréal/HEC slipped from 72nd last year to 84th this year. Even with this dip, it remains Canada's fourth-highest-ranking university for employability, so Montrealers still have something to cheer about.
Other Canadian universities that made the list include McMaster University in Hamilton (88th), University of Alberta in Edmonton (170th), University of Ottawa (181st), University of Victoria (186th), University of Waterloo (193rd), and Toronto Metropolitan University rounding out the top 10 at 194th.
While Canada made an impressive showing, the global heavyweights still dominated the top of the rankings.
The United States took the crown, with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) clinching first place, followed by the California Institute of Technology in second and Stanford in third. Harvard and the University of Cambridge (U.K.) rounded out the top five.
