Car theft has gone up in Western Canada, and new data revealed which vehicles are the most stolen in the province of Alberta.

Équité Association's annual report broke down car theft stats across the country, and some provinces saw a major uptick in auto theft. Western Canada as a whole just saw a 5.5% increase, from 2021-2023, but the report said that "Alberta experiences more auto theft per capita than Ontario."

According to the not-for-profit organization Équité Association, Canada is "becoming a source country for the lucrative export trade in stolen vehicles," with many high-end vehicles being targeted.

Ontario Provincial Police allegedly used a spike belt during a chase with a driver in a stolen vehicle near London on Thursday, but the driver apparently kept going despite having three flat tires.

At around 7:45 a.m. on June 23, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police said that it received a call about a stolen vehicle on Second Street, in the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe. The township is roughly a 40-minute drive west of London, Ontario.

Watch your driver-side door, folks. Vehicle theft has more than doubled in the nation's capital this year, the Ottawa Police Service says.

On May 31, Ottawa Police issued a press release warning the public of a sharp uptick in vehicle thefts. In the last two weeks alone, the police service recorded 21 stolen Honda CRVs.
