Speaking to what BBC News described as a "raucous crowd," Trump told his supporters that he hoped this day would go on to be "one of the most important days of your life."
"This is a magnificent victory for the American people, that will allow us to make America great again," he added, saying that this will be a "golden age" for the United States.
It's worth noting that votes are still being counted and nothing has been officially announced. It might take days or even weeks for the detailed final results of the election to be confirmed formally in every state.
Although there's been no word from Harris as of 5 a.m. ET on Wednesday, or any response from Canada's senior politicians, Canadians have taken to X, formerly Twitter, overnight and into the early hours to share their immediate thoughts and feelings.
Canadians flooded X with their reactions to the U.S. election, describing it like overhearing your neighbours' chaotic argument—or, as some put it, watching a "house fire" from across the street.
As expected, the conversation quickly turned to Americans considering a move to Canada—a trend that first gained traction after Trump's 2016 victory.
And it seems the interest is real. A recent study revealed a significant spike in Americans searching for information on relocating to Canada ahead of this year's U.S. election result.
However, many Canadians chimed in online, suggesting that relocating to Canada might be pointless for Americans hoping to escape Trump's influence.
They suggested that Canada could soon see similar political shifts, hinting that the next Canadian election might bring its own surprises.
Others urged Canadians not to get smug about Trump's anticipated victory, reminding everyone to "read the room."
Of course, not all Canadians were disappointed by Trump's expected win. One Canadian even replied to a Trump tweet, saying, "I wish I could have voted for you in this election because I've been a very strong supporter!"
Another, in contrast to those eyeing a move north, wrote, "If Trump wins this, I'll seriously consider moving to the U.S. to start my family."
Canadian citizen Elon Musk has been particularly vocal about his support for Trump throughout this election campaign, and has been flooding his own X account with memes and images since early Wednesday morning.
One tweet even featured a photoshopped image of Musk in the White House with the caption, "Let that sink in."
