He's now on the run!

This looks like something from a horror movie. A couple from Newmarket had a terrifying scare after a man broke into their home while they were in bed sleeping. York Regional Police uploaded the surveillance camera video and it's just so scary.

According to a news release by YRP issued last week, they have been investigating a breaking and entering and now the suspect is on the loose.

Police released a snippet of video footage from surveillance cameras at the home and it's about as creepy as it gets.

At around 7:45 a.m., police say, officers responded to a call at a house on Adam Place in the area of Yonge Street and Davis Drive in Newmarket for a call of a break and enter.

The footage shows the individual creeping around the house's kitchen and later slipping out the front door.

If that wasn't frightening enough, he then went into the homeowners' bedroom and stole their cellphone and some money, all while they were sleeping.

The family only realized in the morning that the incident had occurred overnight while they were sound asleep and immediately called police.

After officers spoke to the family and reviewed the video, they found out that a man had arrived at the home around 3 a.m. and broke into two unlocked cars in the driveway.

He then forced himself through the front doors and entered the kitchen, took a large knife and put it into his waistband while he explored the house.

They only found out the next day what had happened.

Police are releasing the footage and images, hoping someone from the public is able to identify him.

According to CP24, police said there's no reason to believe the homeowners were specifically targeted.

York Police managed to potentially identify the culprit as 19-year-old Justin Plant, of no fixed address, per CP24.

Plant is described by police as a white male with short, dark hair, a tattoo on his left forearm and is of heavy build.

Police are asking Plant to now find a lawyer and turn himself in, reports CP24.

This isn't the only dramatic incident YRP has responded to recently.

Just last week, officers arrested a man for drunk driving while he had his four-year-old daughter in the back seat of his car.

That one was scary, and this one is downright creepy.
