Even with international travel restrictions, Canada's airlines are still offering flights and they flew thousands of people to Hawaii in December 2020 with most being vacationers.

There's a COVID-19 portal run by the State of Hawaii where you can find travel data on who's entered, what airline they flew on, why they went and more.

3,640 travellers flown to Hawaii by Air Canada and WestJet in December

The data shows that Air Canada and WestJet flew 3,640 people to Hawaii throughout the month of December.

When it comes to the reason for the trip, 2,927 people said it was for pleasure or vacation, 276 said they were visiting friends or relatives and 252 were part of airline crews.

Only 127 people who entered the state with Canadian airlines during that time were residents and the rest were all visitors.

Most travellers were on flights that departed from Calgary International Airport and Vancouver International.

Canada now requires every single passenger coming into the country by plane to have a negative COVID-19 within 72 hours of their flight.

The government has been warning against non-essential travel outside of the country and Justin Trudeau has said that nobody should be vacationing abroad.
