On Monday, July 12, a large construction crane collapsed on Paul Street In Kelowna, B.C. The Kelowna crane collapse damaged several buildings and the surrounding area was evacuated.

According to local RCMP, four people have died as a result of the incident and a fifth man is missing. Officials believe he is buried in the .*

Inspector Adam MacIntosh of the Kelowna RCMP said that the four victims were all men working at the site at the time of the collapse, though their identities have not yet been made public.

It is believed that the workers were preparing to take the crane apart prior to the collapse, according to Global News. Police are investigating to see if there was any criminal activity involved in the accident.

"The evacuation will remain in effect until the area has been determined to be safe," said a police release.
