Kamala Harris Opened Up To Justin Trudeau About Her 'Teenage Years' In Canada

"I have fond memories..." she said.
Managing Editor, Canada

In a recent meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, American Vice President Kamala Harris opened up about her “teenage years” in Canada.

The two spoke face-to-face for the first time as leaders (alongside President Joe Biden) last week, although the meeting was virtual due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

During the video call, Harris chatted to Trudeau about her life in Montreal as a teenager — a period she remembers fondly.

“I spent many of my teenage years living in Montreal when my mother was teaching at McGill University and doing her research at the Jewish General Hospital there,” the vice president explained.

“I have fond memories of my time in Montreal,” she continued.

“It certainly left me with a lasting impression about how much our two countries have in common in terms of shared values and priorities.”

It’s not the first time the duo have chatted about life in Canada together, either.

When the two leaders had their first phone call together back in February, she spoke again about her love for the Canadian city.

When Harris was elected as VP of the United States, her old Canadian high school shared the sweetest video message online to congratulate her.
