According to a readout from the prime minister's office, the two spoke about Vice President Harris' "historic" election win before she "recalled fondly" her time in Montreal.

Harris lived in Montreal while her mother did research at the Jewish General Hospital and taught at McGill University — where Trudeau got his undergrad degree.

Harris graduated from Westmount High School, which has publicly supported the politician on multiple occasions throughout the U.S. election.

Trudeau and Harris touched on several other topics in their phone call, including the border closure and climate change.

They also discussed firearm trafficking, online hate and gender-based violence.

"Both the Prime Minister and Vice President looked forward to the upcoming bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Trudeau and President Biden," the readout said.
