Founded in the 1960s, the family-operated venue welcomes visitors to their secret pit, where you can dig for amethysts.

The area is open from mid-May to mid-October, which means you still have time to plan a trip for the fall.

Don't forget to dress for the weather when visiting. The venue recommends wearing good footwear, such as running shoes or hiking boots, as the mine is rocky.

Sunscreen and insect repellent is also suggested during your visit.
