New Conservative leader Erin O'Toole is getting tested for COVID-19 after one of his staff members got the virus. His family will also be doing the same.

According to a statement from the party on September 16, a staffer who recently travelled with O'Toole tested positive for the virus.

So, the leader and his family are getting tested though he hasn't shown any symptoms.

My family and I are feeling well, but we take COVID-19 very seriously.

Other staff members who were travelling with O'Toole are also being tested and isolating.

The newly elected Conservative leader also shared a statement.

He said that he and his family are feeling well but are taking COVID-19 seriously.

It was supposed to be the first day of school for one of his kids but instead, the family is going to get tested while following public health guidelines.

"The health and safety of my family and all Canadians is my top priority," he said.

O'Toole's office is contacting anyone who he came into contact with recently.

This comes less than a day after the Bloc Québécois leader's wife shared that she has tested positive for COVID-19.

Yves-François Blanchet was already isolating because one of his staffers has the virus.
